To Family and Friends

Those that have the greatest influence on our lives are our family and friends.  The relationships we have with them help us learn about ourselves and about others.  We are influenced by their stimulating lessons that help make us into better people.  Their behavior, actions, manners, speech and virtuous characters help us learn how to conduct our everyday affairs, and especially how to conduct ourselves with others so that we may forge more healthy and vital relationships.

We are born into our families, and they are there through good times as well as bad times.  Family teaches us about manners, values and morals.  They very often tell us the truth about our weaknesses and strength, and remind us to correct our mistakes, bad habits, and failures.  They are the ones that see our potential in order for us to arrive to the peak of our personal mountains.  We learn about our cultures through them and they help keep culture alive by surrounding us with music, dance, films, arts, cooking, holidays, ceremonies, milestones, and education.  They leave a mark in our souls through faith and unconditional love.  In them and with them, we embody the true spirit of our ancestral tradition while learning to adopt the modern culture.

We make friends by sharing similarities, and the differences we have with them can teach us about adversity.  Friendships teach us about trust, faithfulness, and loyalty.  I have different friends for different reasons: my academia friends, church friends, etc.  However, as time goes by, I have maintained a handful of great friends because I believe finding a great friendship is like searching and finding a pearl in the ocean.  Friends are fun to have and to keep, and it is important to nurture these relationships and keep communication alive through our busy schedule.

Family and friends are our support and helpful champions through the journey called life. They sustain us in our endeavors and captivate our hearts.  Family and friends make a lasting impact on our lives.  We are forever changed through our relationship with them.

Wishing all my family and friends a Wonderful 2013 – I hope you had a great start and continue to have a blessed year.
